EARLY YEARS APPRENTICESHIP

Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner

Connect Schools Academy Trust are seeking individuals who are passionate about young children’s education and wish to become pre-school practitioners. We are currently recruiting two apprentices to work within two of our pre-schools, Greenwood Pre-school based in Green Street Green Orpington and St George’s Pre-school based in Bickley, Bromley.

What is an Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships allow you to combine work and study by mixing on-the-job training with distance learning. You'll be employed as a pre-school practitioner while studying for a formal qualification. For one morning a week you will be given release time to complete course work set by your tutor. By the end of your apprenticeship, you will have gained the skills and knowledge to qualify as an Early Years Practitioner. This qualification will enable you to work within Nursery and Pre-school settings with children from birth to five years of age.

Who Can Apply?

Any one above the age of 17 can apply for an apprenticeship as long as they meet the following requirements:

  • GCSE grade 4 or C in English and maths or an equivalent qualification
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Passion for early years education
  • Experience of dealing with young children
  • Ability to communicate with young children
  • Ability to work using own initiative
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Apprenticeships would suit anyone above the age of 17 who has a passion for early years education. You may be thinking of returning to work after a career break or desire a change of career. There is no requirement to have formally worked with young children before but an enthusiasm for working with young children is a must.

How long is the Course?

The minimum time to achieve the qualification is one year and the maximum time that it must be completed within is 18 months. Apprentices will be employed on an apprenticeship contract which will end once the qualification has been achieved.

How Much Does the Course Cost?

The course is free. One of the main benefits of being an apprentice is that the training is free to you and you will also earn a wage while studying.

What Are the Hours and Rate of Pay?

Apprentices will be employed Monday to Friday from 08:30am to 4:30pm term time only 38 weeks of a year, 37.5 hours a week.

The rate of pay for apprentices is £5.00 an hour.

What is Included on the Course?
